For the second year running Olton's 1st XI contested a WSL final and again came out triumphant with a hard fought win over local rivals Knowle and Dorridge.
Batting first proved difficult against the new ball and Olton were 45-3 but skipper Gary Hawkins with support all the way down the order took command and led the recovery and Olton closed on 207 - 8 after 40 overs with Gary making 105* and Tom Lilburn next highest scorer with 14 and T Lee of K&D taking 4-36.
Good fielding characterised the early part of K&D innings as Olton restricted them to 90 for 4 but 24 overs had been bowled. Sunil (8.0.42.0) and Jamie (8.3.13.1) had bowled all the way through and kept it very tight. With 8 overs to go 72 were wanted and Olton were well on top but an injury to PHil Ceillam meant he could not bowl the overs he needed to at the end. Baker (73) took advantage of the change bowlers and looked to have won it for K&D but Olton still had Xavier up their sleeve. He bowled a devasting spell of quick bowling to take the last six wickets for 27 as Olton ran out winners by 10 runs.
