The
Burnham Cup at Ross-on-Wye May 2010
A chilly start saw 7 groups of 4 balls teeing off for the 9 hole
Alliance. Most groups actually read the information written on the cards &
scored it as a Stableford except John Raison. Even so, his group managed to
come in 2nd after the correct scoring had been applied. However, he
could not compete with the winning group amassing 49 points (Luke Burgess -3
gross & Rob Gregan +1 gross, both off 3) The winning quartet was Luke, Dave
Evans, Pinkman & Rob.
The sun came out for the afternoon competition, for The Burnham Cup,
which was a cliff-hanger, with 6 players playing better than their handicaps.
Nearest the pin on the tricky 7th green went to Ralph Holden,
and the longest drive on the 14th, was predictably won by Jack
Raison with his tee shot out of sight.
A tie for 4th & 3rd place between Roger
Dunmore & Ralph Holden, both on 39 points, had to be resolved on the best
last 3, Ralph just edging it. 2nd place (again), with a wonderful
score of 40 points off 4, was Rob Gregan.
But the winner for the 2nd time was James Feeney with 41
points.
Congratulations to James Feeney on winning The Burnham Cup 2010
This means of course that James will be organising next years Burnham
Cup
