Pictures from the match against Coleshill . Sorry but only two batsmen appear - blame them for hogging the innings !!!!!.
Olton's 2nd XI trounced Coleshill on Bank Holiday Monday as a result of an enormous record breaking opening partnership of 311 between two fifteen year olds.
Jon Webb and Gary Hawkins back together at the club having completed their season's matches with Warwickshire u15s, opened in this 2nd XI Birmingham League match. They took the attack to Coleshill's bowlers from the start and scored at a rapid rate.
When Jon Webb was out for 182, including 24 fours and 5 sixes the partnership was worth 311 in 44 overs. A record breaking Olton opening stand. When captain Steve Hawkins declared two overs later Gary had gone on to make 136 not out and Olton had made 344-1.
Demoralised Coleshill lost a quick wicket to the other Hawkins family member playing that day, Jamie. Phil Ceillam chipped in with a second as Coleshill began badly losing two wickets for 4 runs. Mahmood and Swift made a bold attempt to get Coleshill going and put on 72 for the third wicket but thereafter there was a steady procession as Gary Hawkins, Jon Webb and James Eaton each took two wickets and Coleshill were all out for 113.
Olton had won by 231 runs!
